BIO: Jean
Lannen studied at Detroit's Center For Creative
Studies, and received a BFA in photography. During those precious years she fell in love with the darkroom, b&w street
photography, portraiture, abandoned buildings, and music. (concerts, passes, the first U2 tour and Todd Rundgren concerts.) Jean's style is a unique blend of: "Reportage", utilizing her keen sense of observation, "Photojournalism",
with a talent to tell the story, "Commercial Advertising", including the ability to direct a subject and convey
a message, and finally "Fine Art", with an awareness of light, composition, color, and design. Her photography has attracted recognition and awards from: The Photo District
News, COLOR Magazine, Communication Arts, American Photography, The Photographers Forum, The Noetic Sciences and The National
Addy Awards. She's been on the campaign trail with Presidential Candidate - General Wesley Clark, Democrat
Ellen Tauscher, as well as other numerous senators and congressional people. She created a library of images, both on location
and in studio, for a YWCA national campaign. Other clients include: The Ford Motor Company, GMC, The Ronald McDonald Corp,
The United Way, The Red Cross, Comerica Bank, Warner Bros. and VenRock. Jean's work is featured on (8) Todd Rundgren albums and she recently sold a library
of images to him for PR. Two of her fine art images are included in Johnson & Johnson's Corporate Art Collection, and
Torani Syrups (they're in every coffee cafe) commissioned her to create (5) chapter openers for their "speciality"
coffee recipe book. Her
Art Photography and mixed media have been exhibited in various shows and galleries. Much of her art is based on nostalgia
and contains images of lost artifacts, symbolic trinkets and found objects. She has a largce collection of old dolls and toys,
and often shoots them using a technique called "selective focus". Jean's recent project involved creating (50) images
in (50) days. Using "selective focus" within the camera, she created a large body of work dripping with vivid color
called: EYE CANDY: Trinkets, Liquids, Baubles and Balls. Jean specializes in "conceptual images", "selective focus" and in portraiture. Her
"B/W Party Portraits", shot on professional B&W Instant
Film, are popular for events and private parties. Many of her images continue to sell around the world thru her stock agency:
GETTY IMAGES. She recently moved from Pacifica, just south of San Francisco, Calilfornia - to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan,
where she is enjoying being around her family and the newness of it all without the F-O-G. View and purchase her art photographs and original "altered photographs" at her ETSY Shop - The Other Jeanie. MENTORS and INFLUENCES: Walt Disney • Chuck Jones (animator)
